The ELSA Freiburg Spring Conference on International and European Law will be held in Freiburg and Strasbourg from the 25th to the 28th of Mai in 2017.
The main part of the academic, cultural and social program will take place in the beautiful University City of Freiburg. Freiburg is called the sunny capital of the Black Forest and has a population of approx. 200.000, including about 30.000 students. Situated in the very south of Germany at the bottom of a mountain it is very close to the Swiss and French boarders and offers stunning nature and many cultures events. On Friday we will visit Strasbourg, in France, the seat of various EU institutions. Our trip there will add a practical aspect to the European topics and gives participants the chance to experience two countries during the conference.
As Freiburg is located in the very south of Germany in a triangle of Switzerland-Germany-France there are many ways of getting there:
Freiburg Main Station is located in the centre of Freiburg and is well connected to the rest of Germany with most trains that are arriving coming via Frankfurt.
EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg is the closest airport, located in France and served by many international airlines as well as budget-airlines.
Baden-Baden Airport is worth checking out as well as you will sometimes get a great deal!
Frankfurt International Airport is the biggest German airport with connections to every major airport worldwide. From there you can take a connecting train to Freiburg, which takes approximately two hours.
Arrival by Car is also a good idea, as Freiburg is connected to the major highway A5.
No matter which way of travel you choose, let us know your date and time of arrival as we will organize for every participant to be picked up by a member of the Organizing Committee!
